ब्राह्मण रूठ तो परशुराम भूख तो सुदामा ब्राह्मण घमंडी तो रावण ब्राह्मण ब्राह्मण  ( विप्र, द्विज, द्विजोत्तम, भूसुर ) हिन्दू समाज की एकजाति है | ब्राह्मण को विद्वान, सभ्य और शिष्ट माना जाता है।एतिहासिक रूप से हिन्दू समाज में, व्यवसाय-आधारित चार वर्णहोते हैं।  ब्राह्मण  ( आध्यात्मिकता के लिए उत्तरदायी ),  क्षत्रिय (धर्म रक्षक),  वैश्य  (व्यापारी व कॄषक वर्ग) तथा  शूद्र  ( शिल्पी,श्रमिक समाज ) । व्यक्ति की विशेषता, आचरण एवं स्वभाव सेउसकी जाति निर्धारित होती थी । विद्वान, शिक्षक, पंडित,बुद्धिजीवी, वैज्ञानिक तथा ज्ञान-अन्वेषी ब्राह्मणों की श्रेणी मेंआते थे | यस्क मुनि की निरुक्त के अनुसार -  ब्रह्म   जानाति   ब्राह्मण :  --ब्राह्मण वह है जो ब्रह्म ( अंतिम सत्य, ईश्वर या परम ज्ञान ) कोजानता है। अतः ब्राह्मण का अर्थ है - "ईश्वर ज्ञाता" | किन्तु हिन्दूसमाज में एतिहासिक स्थिति यह रही है कि पारंपरिक पुजारीतथा पंडित ही ब्राह्मण होते हैं । किन्तु आजकल बहुत सारे ब्राह्मण धर्म-निरपेक्ष व्यवसाय करतेहैं और उनकी धार्मिक परंपराएं उनके जीवन से लुप्त होती जारही हैं | यद्यपि भारतीय ज
